HISTORY
& OVERVIEW OF BUROW’S AUCTION SERVICE INC.
Burow’s
Auction Service has been a family owned business operating in Great
Falls since 1985. Fred Burow, founder of Burow’s Auction
Service, attended World Wide College of auctioneering in Mason City
Iowa. A March 1985 graduate Fred moved with his family to Great Falls
Montana in June of 1985. Finding a building and starting an auction
business was one of his first priorities. Business started that fall
with a weekly consignment sale. The morning of the very first auction,
held mid November 1985, the temperature was a bone chilling -20 Fahrenheit.
In 1997 we
incorporated to become Burow’s Auction Service Inc. Wife/mother, Helen,
is the president and major stockholder, making it a minority owned
business. She assists with setup, cashiers the sales and maintains
the bookkeeping system. Vice President, Fred, and daughter, Tammy
Gittins, do the actual bid calling. Son, Fred, who has been working
in the computer field since 1990, maintains the computer system and
clerks the sales.
We are bonded with the State of Montana, and carry $1,000,000 in liability
insurance. All our employees are covered by Workman’s Comp. Insurance.
We are members of the National Auctioneers Association and Montana
Auctioneers Association. We have conducted hundreds of auctions that
include estate, household, antiques and collectibles, art, tools,
farm and equipment sales. We have organized auctions for Malmstrom
Air Force Base, Small Business Administration, City of Great Falls,
Bankruptcy Courts, and have sold vehicles for US Marshals Service.
